A Workshop by Orchid & Pine Studio at Hunt & Gather
Friday, December 18, 5-8 pm
Location: Hunt & Gather
Join us for an afternoon of creativity at Redwood & Ranunculus and create a one-of-a-kind handmade holiday gift made with love.
Bring a favorite family photo and transform it into a pressed floral portrait. You’ll create something unique, made by you, and it will light up your heart every time they see it.
Together, we’ll take a sweet moment and transform it into a pressed-flower art piece placed into a ready-made frame, perfect for gifting to your loved one or for yourself!
What we'll cover:
• Floral composition
How to choose the best crop for your image and select flowers that complement your photo in addition to an introduction to various floral compositions.
• Floral color theory & collage techniques
As you're creating with an image and using flowers as your "paint," we will review how to select flowers using color theory to create an image you love. We will also review collage cutting, layering, and glueing techniques and how to handle this delicate medium.
• An overview of floral pressing techniques
How to select, collect, and press a variety of foliage and flowers to create pressed floral art.

About Hunt & Gather:
Meet Charina + Orchid & Pine:
Meet Your Instructor: Charina
With a BFA in fashion design and decades of experience as a visual artist, Charina has spent her lifetime exploring the space where creativity, craftsmanship, and nature meet. Learning the meditative art of Oshibana, the practice of creating pressed botanical art from real flowers is where it comes together.
Through Orchid & Pine Studio, she bridges the worlds of floral design and slow, intentional craft in a way that feels both intentional and alive. She's also known as a mixed media artist for her floral portrait collage work. Her pieces have been featured at The Huntington Botanical Gardens, The New York Botanical Gardens, In Her Studio, and In Her Garden magazine, with recent group shows at Hunt & Gather San Francisco and Radius Gallery in Santa Cruz.
In her Pressed Floral Workshops, Charina creates space for you to slow down, reconnect with your hands, and rediscover your creative side. You'll learn to layer delicate blooms, play with color and composition, and leave with a piece that is entirely your own and a quiet reminder of what your hands and imagination can make.
