The number one question I'm often asked is "How long will my dried flowers last?"
The longevity of your dried flowers is based on several factors, including heat, moisture, and dust.
By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your dried flowers retain their beauty for up to three years:
1. Display in a Cool, Dry Place
- Keep your flowers away from direct sunlight, as UV rays can cause the colors to fade.
- Avoid placing them near heat sources like radiators or fireplaces, as excessive heat can cause them to dry out and lose their vibrancy.
2. Protect from Moisture
- Moisture can cause mold or mildew to form, so make sure your flowers are not exposed to humid environments like bathrooms or kitchens.
- A well-ventilated room is ideal to prevent any moisture buildup.
3. Keep Dust at Bay
- Dust can accumulate on your dried flowers over time, making them look dull. To clean them, use a soft brush or a gentle blow of air from a hairdryer on the cool setting to remove dust.
- You can also lightly vacuum larger flower installations and arrangements using a brush attachment, but be sure to do so on a low setting to avoid damaging the petals. We do not recommend this on our smaller earth vessels ikebana forms.
By taking these precautions, your dried flowers will stay as fresh as the day they arrived, preserving their beauty and charm for years to come.
